Hello, thank you for visiting the Canterbury Day School website! My name is Amanda ZeRuth, and I am the owner of and teacher at our preschool and child enrichment center. My husband and I, along with our infant son, moved to Kentucky in 2014. While I loved staying home with my little one, I wanted him to make new friends (and I did too!). With my extensive experience in child care, I began caring for a small number of children in my home.
This then blossomed into what we now have - a preschool setting with the intimacy and love of being at a family member’s home. I have created the type of academic atmosphere that I wanted for my own child. Learning through play, interesting activities, stimulating toys and small teacher/child ratios were required for him. That is what I offer to your child!
My mission is to provide the highest quality educational experience for young children. I cannot do my job without the support of my wonderful, involved parents. It is because of them that I am able to do what I do. Parent involvement is absolutely essential for the running of the preschool and parents are strongly encouraged to participate.
CDS is a school year program, beginning in August and ending mid-May. In general, we follow the Murray State University calendar for holidays and school vacations. Summer camp is offered on a limited basis in May/June. Please see the calendar section for more information.
CDS does not discriminate in providing services to children and their families on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, marital status or sexual orientation. Children are not required to be toilet trained to attend. I do require that all children be up-to-date on vaccinations and not on a delayed schedule.
